One of the reasons we love Samsung as a company is their fast rate of development, and willingness to innovate and try new things. Well, yesterday, Samsung announced a new line up to its phones; the Samsung Galaxy Mega with a massive 6.3 inch screen. This is a massive 2 full inches larger than the iPhone 5 and can feature two apps running side by side on the screen.
Now, the experimenting doesn’t stop there. Samsung realizing that this may be slightly too big for some peoples tastes is also launching a slightly smaller version at still a respectably large 5.8 inches.
There is becoming a trend for some bigger smartphone sizes with China’s Huawei unveiling a 6.1 inch phone earlier this year.
The larger version of Samsung’s Galaxy Mega will feature a full HD screen giving a 720p resolution, and will be powered by 1.7 GHz dual-core processors along with 1.5 GB RAM. For storage you can select either 8GB or 16GB, but this can be supplemented with a microSD card. For the small version, there will be slightly lower resolution at 960 x 540, and the CPU will be slightly less powerful at 1.4 GHz.
These new phones will roll out gradually, commencing in May in Europe and Russia. At the present time, there is no indication of when they might arrive in the US. We will leave you with a comparison of the various sizes of many smartphones against the new Galaxy Mega, which was created by Phonearena.com:
